Same materials, contrasting compositions—each surface plays with light in its own way within a simple volume
Program: Low-Rise Condominium
Client: Habitat Group Co., Ltd.
Size: 5,576 Sq.m.
Scope: Architectural Design
Located in the heart of Bangkok, this compact site was developed for a small-scale condominium just off a bustling district. The design fully optimizes the permitted building envelope, from underground to sky. The ground floor is semi-sunken from road level, accommodating the main entrance, lobby, and fitness facilities. Above, residential floors are topped with a roof garden and swimming pool, while two levels of substructure provide automated parking.
To ensure the building maintains a neat and prominent presence amidst its busy surroundings, simplicity and subtlety guide the architectural expression. A composition of glazed facades, steel frames, and timber-patterned aluminum fins forms a clean, cohesive volume. The front glazing reflects the sky and surroundings, creating visual depth, while on the side elevation, the aluminum fins elegantly shield the CDU yards, producing shades and shadows that enhance the sense of volume. Between the fins, unit balconies provide city views, natural light, and ventilation to dwellers.
Overall, the interplay of contrasting materials and restrained design results in a singular, clean architectural form. The simplicity of the design supports practicality, constructibility, and elegance, offering a peaceful retreat within the dynamic cityscape.
